‘Volusia Prepares' group plans November meeting and workshop

The "Volusia Prepares," working group for Volusia County’s Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS), will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at the Volusia County Emergency Operations Center, 49 Keyton Drive, Daytona Beach, to vote on new initiatives to be submitted for inclusion into the LMS and to prioritize projects for available funding under the federal Hazardous Mitigation Grant Program due to the May Severe Storms Presidential Declaration.

There will be a Hazardous Mitigation Grant Program application development workshop from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Daytona Beach Police Department, 129 Valor Blvd., Daytona Beach (in the Comstat Room).

The meeting and the workshop are open to the public and public participation is encouraged.

The purpose of the countywide LMS is to identify strategies to reduce the impact of natural and manmade disasters before they occur.

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Florida Statutes, persons with disabilities needing special accommodation to participate in the proceedings should request assistance at least two business days before the meeting.

For additional information, please call Pat White, Volusia County Emergency Management’s Volusia Prepares coordinator, at (386) 254-1500.
