The "Volusia Prepares," working group for Volusia
County’s Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS), will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday,
Nov. 3, at the Volusia County Emergency Operations Center, 49 Keyton
Drive, Daytona Beach, to vote on new initiatives to be submitted for
inclusion into the LMS and to prioritize projects for available funding
under the federal Hazardous Mitigation Grant Program due to the May
Severe Storms Presidential Declaration.
There will be a Hazardous Mitigation Grant Program
application development workshop from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov.
5, at the Daytona Beach Police Department, 129 Valor Blvd., Daytona
Beach (in the Comstat Room).
The meeting and the workshop are open to the
public and public participation is encouraged.
The purpose of the countywide LMS is to identify
strategies to reduce the impact of natural and manmade disasters before
they occur.
