Cultural Council to review grant requirements Nov. 10 and 20

The Cultural Council of Volusia County will conduct a planning workshop from 9 a.m. - noon Tuesday, Nov. 10, in the Dr. Alice E. Cross Classrooms of the Deltona Regional Library, 2150 Eustace Ave. Council members and representatives from the Volusia County Cultural Alliance will review requirements for the 2010/2011 Community Cultural Grant program. The meeting is open to the public.

The workshop will consider several aspects of policy relating to program eligibility and funding recommendations. Recommended changes will be considered at the Cultural Council’s regular meeting at 9 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at the Deltona Arts and Historical Center, 682 Deltona Blvd.

Recommendations must be approved by the Volusia County Council before being implemented.

Nonprofit cultural and heritage organizations in Volusia County that meet specific eligibility requirements can receive financial operating support through this program. In 2009, the Cultural Council recommended 29 organizations for support.

In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Florida Statutes, persons with disabilities needing special accommodation to participate in the proceedings should request assistance at least two business days before the date of the meeting.

For more information about either meeting or accommodation, please contact Mike Fincher, cultural coordinator for Volusia County’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Division, at (386) 736-5953, ext. 5872, or mfincher@co.volusia.fl.us.
