Inmate regulations
- Money -- All funds must come by mail or be deposited in the
drop box in the lobby of each facility. Money orders, certified checks or government
checks are accepted.
- PERSONAL CHECKS AND CASH ARE NOT
ACCEPTED. The inmate's booking number and
the name he or she was booked into jail under -- even if it is an alias -- should be on
the check or money order.
- Property -- The inmate's property is turned over in the ID
area for safekeeping. Any items that he or she needs, such as toothpaste, soap, and razors
will be supplied. Other items must be purchased through the Commissary. Inmates are not
able to purchase cigarettes or have them brought in because the jail is a non-smoking
facility.
Important!
All inmates and visitors entering the institution are
subject to search per Florida Model Jail Standards. Items considered contraband as defined
in Florida Statutes 951.23, 893.02, 210.01, and 210.25 include, but are not limited to:
- Weapons or any object that could be used as a weapon (e.g.,
key ring that is a pen knife).
- Prescription and illegal drugs, over-the-counter medications
or cosmetics.
- Tobacco products.
Money (other than money orders, cashier's check or
government check).
Mail, books, magazines and packages

Mail
Mail must include inmate's jail name and booking number as it
appears on the inmate's wristband. Otherwise the mail will be returned
to the sender. The mailroom will not accept items brought by visitors.
Mail is opened, screened and delivered on the day it is received. The
mailroom hours are 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Mail
delivery does not occur on weekends or holidays.
Please note: Letters cannot contain more than six (6) photos,
the subject of the photos shall not be nude or sexually explicit, and
the picture size shall not exceed 4" x 6". Multiple photos
printed on one page from a computer counts toward the total number of
photos permitted and they must be cut/separated prior to mailing. Only
photos printed on computer photo paper will be accepted. No other
inserts are permitted which also includes musical cards. Mail containing contraband
under Florida Statute 951.23, such as tobacco or drugs will either be
destroyed or turned over to the appropriate law enforcement authority,
the letter returned to sender, and stamped as to the reason for its
non-acceptance. Money orders, certified checks, government checks and/or
photos are the only enclosures permitted for incoming inmate mail. Mail
containing non-approved items will be returned to the sender in its
entirety (e.g., letter and all enclosures). Personal checks and cash are
not accepted.
Books, magazines and
other publications
Items are accepted only when mailed directly from the book
store, publisher, or book club on a prepaid basis (limit three -- only
paperback books). Same restrictions apply to all religious materials,
including Bibles.
Packages
No packages mailed or delivered will be accepted. Inmates may
purchase accessory items such as sodas, hygienic items, candy, etc. from
the jail commissary. Provisions are made to supply basic necessities to
all inmates.
Important! All incoming mail will be
inspected, except for mail from attorneys or public officials. Vulgar or obscene mail will
be returned to sender.
