At
approximately 10:30 p.m. a man walked into the front lobby of the Best
Western Inn, 481 Deltona Blvd. He asked the two women behind the
reception counter where the bathrooms were and they told him. When then
turned their backs on him to continue with their work, the robber leapt
over the desk and produced a small handgun. One of the victims reported
that the robber told them not to panic, just give him what he wants and
everything will be okay. He made the victims open the register and he
grabbed money from it. He then forced the women at gunpoint into the
rear office area and ordered them to open the safe located there. The
women told him that they weren’t able to unlock it. The robber
searched the victim’s pockets, turning up cash and other personal
items, which he took. Finally, the man jumped back over the counter and
ran out of the building.
The
robber was described as a black man, approximately 5’3” to 5’5”
with a medium build. One victim said he had a baby face appearance and
spoke with a New York or New Jersey accent. He was last seen wearing
black, baggy pants; a black, nylon jacket; and a do-rag on his head.
