VOLUSIA COUNTY FIRE SERVICES NEEDS FIRE POLICE TEAM VOLUNTEERS

Volusia County Fire Services has openings for individuals looking for personal enrichment through volunteering on its Fire Police Team. These volunteers are unarmed and help to provide a safe environment for emergency rescue personnel and the public at the scene of emergencies, such as motor vehicle accidents, brush fires, structure fires, aircraft and hazardous materials incidents.

Fire Police members receive more than 150 hours of training as part of the Fire Police Training Academy and Volunteer  Academy. All training is free. Upon completion of training, team members will serve on an on-call status to respond in one of four quadrants of the county, and are trained to manage traffic at emergency incidents using Department of Transportation guidelines. Team meetings are held every Monday at 6 p.m. at the Volusia County Fire Services Training Center, 3889 Tiger Bay Rd., Daytona Beach.
