PUBLIC INPUT SOUGHT ON DRAFT RFP FOR PROFESSIONAL CONSULTING SERVICES ON VOLUSIA COUNTY BEACH CONCESSIONS

(Updated)

Editor’s Note: The meeting will be broadcast over the Internet at www.volusia.org. The first-floor training rooms at the Thomas C. Kelly Administration Center, 123 W. Indiana Ave., DeLand, will be available (with closed circuit TV broadcast of the meeting) if the public turnout is larger than the capacity of the Council Chambers.

The Volusia County Council may seek a professional, independent review of the concession element of its beach management plan. A request for proposals (RFP) has been drafted and the County is seeking public input on it.

The draft RFP describes a scope of work that would be conducted by an independent consultant in an effort to analyze and assess all aspects of concession services on Volusia County beaches and beachfront parks. The independent and detailed review of the concessions element by a consultant would generate a report to the County Council with a range of policy and procedural recommendations for the management and delivery of concession services on county beaches and beachfront parks.

Following public input on the proposed RFP, the County Council will make a final decision to seek a consultant at a meeting in the near future.

The RFP and background information listed in the RFP is available at www.volusia.org/rfp, or follow the beach concessions RFP Web link from the Volusia.org homepage.

Written comments on the RFP can be submitted via e-mail to rfp@volusia.org, or via standard mail addressed to: Beach Concessions RFP, 700 Catalina Drive, Suite 300, Daytona Beach, FL 32114.

Oral comments on the RFP can be provided at a public meeting of the Volusia County Council at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8. The meeting will be in the County Council Chambers at the Thomas C. Kelly Administration Center, 123 W. Indiana Avenue, DeLand. Overflow crowds will be accommodated in the first floor training rooms. The public can also listen to the meeting over the Internet at www.volusia.org.
