PANEL TO REVIEW
FARMTON-GREENKEY PLAN JUNE 2; PUBLIC INVITED
A peer review panel will review the
proposed Farmton-Greenkey Comprehensive Plan Amendment during a public
meeting from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 2. The meeting will be in
building 2, room 109, of Daytona State College’s New Smyrna Beach
campus, 940 10th St. Several Volusia County Council members plan to
attend the meeting.
The amendment concerns 47,000 acres owned
by Miami Corp. in southeast Volusia County and 11,000 acres in Brevard
County. The panel’s role is to evaluate and make recommendations to
refine and improve the planning process, products and policies.
The panel will be chaired by James Murley
of Florida Atlantic University and Steve Seibert of the Collins Center,
former secretaries of the Florida Department of Community Affairs. Panel
members include nationally recognized experts in the fields of
sustainability and design including senior-level representatives of The
Nature Conservancy and The Conservation Fund.
