Daytona Cubs
team with Citizen Corps and Volusia County to promote emergency
preparedness at 'Ready Night' June 15
The Daytona Cubs baseball team again is partnering with the Volusia
County Citizen Corps and Volusia County Emergency Management to host
“Ready Night” at 7:05 p.m. Monday, June 15, at Jackie Robinson Stadium
as the Cubs play the St. Lucie Mets. Fans will learn about how to be
prepared for disasters, which includes being informed, having a
preparedness kit and having a plan.
Community Emergency Response Teams, the Citizen Observer Program,
Fire Explorers, Ham Radio teams and others will be demonstrating crime
prevention and preparedness activities. Fans can have a chance to win a
ready kit for their family. Twenty NOAA weather radios will be given
away.
This is the sixth consecutive season Minor League Baseball is promoting
emergency preparedness among fans through the U.S. Department of
Homeland Security’s Ready Campaign. The campaign is designed to educate
and empower Americans to prepare for and respond to emergencies,
including natural disasters and potential terrorist attacks. Individuals
interested in more information about family, business and community
preparedness can visit
www.ready.gov or call
(800) BE-READY.
The
Volusia County Citizen Corps works to make Volusia County safer,
stronger, and better prepared to respond to all types of disasters by
engaging individuals in crime prevention, emergency preparedness and
response. The group is sponsored by the Volusia County Emergency
Management Division. Learn more about Citizen Corps at
