The Art in Public Places selection committee for
the Deltona Regional Library expansion and Lyonia Environmental Center
project will meet at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, in the training rooms of
the Thomas C. Kelly Administrative Center, 123 W. Indiana Ave., DeLand.
The committee was appointed by the Cultural
Council of Volusia County, an advisory board to the Volusia County
Council. Members will review submissions from 26 Florida artists in
response to a “call to artists” issued earlier this year. Artwork
recommended by the committee and approved by the Volusia County Council
will be installed in the new areas of the complex upon completion in
fall 2009. The public is invited to attend this meeting.
Volusia County’s Art in Public Places program
provides for 0.5 to 1 percent of total construction costs to be set
aside for procurement of artwork to be placed in public areas of all
new, expanded or renovated county buildings.
In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities
Act and Florida Statutes, persons with disabilities needing special
accommodation to participate in the proceedings should request
assistance at least two business days before the date of the meeting.
