COUNTY EXTENSION TO OFFER PESTICIDE CEUs JUNE 17

The University of Florida/Volusia County Extension will offer continuing education credits (CEUs) for pesticide applicators Tuesday, June 17.

The classes will be from 9 a.m. - noon at the Pierson Lions Club, 143 W. First Ave., Pierson.

Speakers and their topics include:

  • 9 - 9:30 a.m.: Dr. Lance Osborne, “What’s new: Mites and thrips and their control” (0.5 category CEU)
  • 9:30 - 10 a.m.: Dr. Gary Leibee, “Detection and new control products for caterpillars” (0.5 category CEU)
  • 10:10 - 10:40 a.m.: Dr. David Norman, “Update on diseases and new bactericides and fungicides” (0.5 category CEU)
  • 10:40 - 11:10 a.m.: Dr. Bob Stamps, “New weeds and weed control products” (0.5 category CEU)
  • 11:10 a.m. - noon: Dana Venrick, “Laws and regulations and pesticide labeling” (1.0 core CEU)

The Central Florida Fern Co-op will provide refreshments and snacks.
