VOLUSIA COUNTY TROPICAL STORM FAY UPDATE #11
·
STORM IMPACT: Volusia
County remains under a tropical storm warning and has had two to four inches of
rain from Fay. With the storm’s changing track,
Volusia
County is predicted to have tropical storm force winds (39 – 73 mph) within 24
hours. In addition, the coastal cities in
Volusia
County (Oak Hill, New Smyrna
Beach, South Daytona,
Port Orange, Ponce Inlet, Ormond Beach, Holly Hill, Edgewater and
Daytona Beach) are under a flood warning until noon. The remaining areas
in Volusia County are under a flood watch.

SCHOOLS: Public schools in
Volusia County are closed
today.
· SHELTERS:
Two shelters are open in Volusia County.
o
Seven people sought shelter
overnight at the American Red Cross shelter at the Spruce
Creek Baptist
Church, 1952 Taylor Road, Port Orange.
o
The “people and pets” shelter at the
Volusia County Fairgrounds had four people and five dogs stay
overnight.

DOWNED TREES/POWER LINES:
Overnight there were reports of 10 - 20 downed trees in Volusia County.
No sporadic power outages have been reported.

HOTLINE: The Citizen Information
Center (CIC) will reopen at 8 a.m. this morning. The number for the
public to call is (866) 345-0345.
·
CANCELLATIONS: The
New Smyrna Beach City Commission meeting scheduled for today has been
continued and will be rescheduled.
·
VOTRAN:
The county’s public transit system will have normal operations today.
·
OFFICES: Volusia County
Government offices are open today.
·
GARBAGE COLLECTION: Volusia County’s garbage collection will follow its normal schedule.
