VOLUSIA COUNTY FIRE SERVICES RESPONDS TO STRUCTURE FIRE

Firefighters with Volusia County Fire Services responded to a structure fire at Lot 34, Nelson Drive in the Westwood Mobile Home Park, Holly Hill, in the early morning hours Monday, Sept. 12.

The call came in at 2:41 a.m. and Volusia County Fire Services Fire Station 11 (Halifax), 1580 Derbyshire Rd., Holly Hill, quickly responded with Engines 11, 96 and 13, and Battalion 10. Ormond Beach Fire Department assisted with a ladder truck and personnel.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found a mobile home with flames coming from the back, according to Volusia County Fire Services Battalion Commander Carlos Galarza. There were no occupants in the home when the firefighters arrived on scene.

The firefighters quickly made an interior attack and were able to stop the fire from destroying the entire structure. However due to smoke and water damage the home is inhabitable. The firefighters then used thermal imaging gear to find and clear any potential hot spots.

There were no injuries reported.

The fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
