VOLUSIA COUNTY FIRE SERVICES RESPONDS TO FIRE
IN BARBERVILLE

A brush fire was reported at 10:27 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Barberville at S.R. 40, three miles west of C.R. 17.

At 10:30 a.m. the fire, which was estimated at three to five acres, crossed S.R. 40 from south to north. The fire forced the closure of S.R. 40 from C.R. 3 to Emporia Road for several hours.

Firefighters from Volusia County Fire Services, Lake County Fire Rescue and the Department of Forestry established fire lines around the fire and had it under control within four hours.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and the Department of Forestry will investigate it.
