The robbery occurred at about 6:35 p.m. while two female clerks were on duty. According to the employees, the suspect came to the checkout counter with several items, then all of a sudden pulled out a handgun, pointed it at one of the clerks and demanded the money. The employees were exchanging money at the time, and the robber took the cash from them and the money in the register. Then he walked out of the store towards Courtland Boulevard and drove off in a late model, dark blue Chevrolet Camaro. More than a dozen patrol deputies and Sheriff’s investigators began converging on the business within four minutes of being dispatched to the scene, but were unable to locate the robber.

The suspect was described as a Black man between the ages of 30-40. He was about 6’5”, with a stocky build and was wearing a blue shirt and a white rag on his head. Anyone with information is asked to call Sheriff’s investigator Craig Yackel at (386) 860-7030 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. Callers to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
