Airtran Airways to
launch weekend nonstop service to Baltimore/ Washington airport
beginning Feb 9.
AirTran Airways has announced new nonstop Saturday and Sunday jet
service between Daytona Beach International Airport and Baltimore
Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport beginning Feb. 9.
The new nonstop service will be
offered on a seasonal basis for the winter and spring seasons with no
ending date established at this time. The Saturday and Sunday flights
will depart Baltimore/ Washington at 1:30 p.m. and arrive in Daytona
Beach at 3:32 p.m. The return flight will depart Daytona Beach at 4:15
p.m. and arrive at Baltimore/Washington Airport at 6:15 pm.
Nonstop Baltimore service was
offered by AirTran Airways during the winter and spring this year and
proved extremely popular, according to Airport Director Dennis McGee.
Its going to be great to have nonstop weekend service to Baltimore,
he added.
McGee noted the Washington
region always has been one of the best markets for DBIA. AirTran Airways
plans to use its 117-passenger Boeing 717 aircraft to provide the new
service. The Boeing 717 is configured for 117 seats 105 coach and 12
business class seats.
Based in Atlanta and
headquartered in Orlando, AirTran is a low-fare airline that serves more
than 40 cities from Daytona Beach through the Atlanta hub. AirTran has
the newest all-Boeing fleet of aircraft in America and offers free XM
satellite radio, spacious overhead bins and assigned seating. AirTran
Airways began service in Daytona Beach in Jan. 11.
