Timeline – In 1969, Volusia County Government took over management and operation of the Daytona Beach Municipal Airport. The airport was renamed the Daytona Beach Regional Airport. In 1992, the Daytona Beach Regional Airport was transformed into the Daytona Beach International Airport. The new $46-million airport surpassed the design of the former airport, adding an international terminal and a newly extended 10,500-foot runway to accommodate larger planes.

Parking rates – The parking rates are $.75 per 1/2 hour in short-term up to $7.50 per day. In long-term the rate is $.75 per 1/2 hour up to a $6 per day with a maximum weekly rate of $30.

Passenger services – Services include free Wi-Fi wireless internet, high speed internet access workstations on the concourse, the Airport Ambassador program offering traveler information assistance, the weather and flight tracking kiosk operated by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University near the ticket counters, the free parking lot shuttle service, the Paradies Gift Shop, the Airport restaurant operated by MSE International, the lighter return program and the mailback service at the security checkpoint.

About the mailback program – When DBIA security check-point screeners make the decision that an item cannot fly onboard the aircraft, the passenger is given the option to place the offending object in an envelope, address it, and drop it in a collection box for pickup by the airport. The airport then mails the object to the passenger’s address at no charge.
