Introduction: During Bike Week 2005, beginning Friday,
March 4 and ending Sunday, March 13, Daytona Beach
International Airport will set aside 188 long term parking spaces for
parking of individual motorcycle trailers and tow vehicles.
Trailers or
tow vehicles parked must not extend beyond the size of individual parking
spaces (approximately 9' wide by 20' long). No parking for large semi tractor-trailer rigs
is available at the Airport. An expanded adjacent parking
area may be activated -- if
available -- in the event demand for
motorcycle trailer and tow vehicle parking exceeds the area alloted (see
map attachment above).
Airport
Hours of Operation: Airport parking lots are open 24 hours per
day, 7 days per week. The parking lot is lighted and regularly patrolled
by the Volusia County Sheriff’s Department and Airport personnel.
Access to
the Airport: The map link at the top of this page shows access to the
Airport from area highways, including Interstates 4 and 95.
Motorcycle Trailer and Tow Vehicle
Parking Rates: Rates for motorcycle trailer and tow vehicle parking are
for a minimum flat rate period beginning March 4 and ending
March 13 as follows:
- Trailer Parking only (one
parking space): $50.00
- Trailer Parking Plus Tow
Vehicle (two parking spaces): $75.00
- Additional spaces (for those
needing three or more) will be charged $25 extra a week.
- Ticket Express
VIP Passes expire at 12 midnight on March 13
Refund
policy: Early exit from the motorcycle
trailer and vehicle parking lot, prior to the conclusion of Bike Week
shall not entitle parking patrons to a refund.
Operation: Airport vehicle gate
arms and other automatic systems in use at the Airport may not properly
operate with motorcycles due to lower weight and reduced mass compared to
other vehicles. In the case of gate arms, this can create a safety hazard
where a gate arm may not operate or may come down too soon, possibly
injuring the motorcyclist or passenger or damaging the bike. For this
reason we request that motorcycles be dropped off
at your hotel or other accommodation prior to arriving at the
Airport.
Neither the Airport, Volusia
County nor Republic Parking will assume any liability for motorcycle exits
through automated gate arm equipment or use of Airport parking lots that
may result in injury or property damage in the manner described.
Follow
these procedures to register your vehicles:
- Upon initial arrival at the
Airport, patrons should follow the signs to Long Term Parking.
- Upon entering the parking lot
patrons should press the green button, take a ticket and follow the
signs to the area marked Motorcycle Trailer and Tow Vehicle parking only
as shown on Attachment 1.
- Upon arrival at the designated
motorcycle trailer and tow vehicle parking area, patrons should
immediately park and walk to the parking exit booth office (Shown on
Attachment 1) and register their vehicle(s) by completing and turning in
the
registration form and the parking ticket initially
obtained upon entry into the Airport parking lot.
- The attendant will collect the
minimum charge as noted above and provide a VIP Pass that will allow
pickup of parked vehicles when needed, without further charge. VIP
Passes should be used for exit at the credit card exit lane only.
It is very important that the
registrant complete registration information and provide it to the parking
lot attendant immediately upon arrival at the Airport in order to register
the motorcycle trailer and tow vehicle with the Airport and pay applicable
parking fees. An inventory of trailers will be taken each night and
any
unregistered motorcycle trailer or tow vehicle will be subject to being
towed off Airport property at the owner’s expense.
Registration must be done at the
parking exit booth with Republic Parking, the parking lot operator. Upon
registration, Republic Parking will issue a VIP Pass for the person listed
on the registration form. Although Airport parking lots are
lighted and regularly patrolled, neither the Airport, Volusia County nor
Republic Parking, (the parking lot operator) will assume liability for
missing, stolen or damaged property. All vehicles left parked on Airport property
should be secured and locked by owners.
During Bike Week the motorcycle
and tow vehicle-parking area may not be used for picnics, camping out,
tailgate parties, social congregation or any other use outside of this
program. The area is being provided for the sole purpose of parking
trailers and tow vehicles.
For trailer pick-up and or tow
vehicle pick-up and departure, patrons should use their VIP Pass at the
parking lot entrance and exit lane marked E TICKET EXPRESS.
Use the VIP Pass as you would swipe a credit card. VIP Passes will
automatically expire at 12 midnight on March 13, 2004. Standard long term
parking rates will apply after March 13.
