Leaves
Leaves are opposite, palmately lobed and
deciduous. The leaves turn a yellow-red color in fall.
Flowers
Red flowers appear in spring, but blossoms are not showy.
Fruit
Winged, brown or greenish fruit of
the Florida Maple appears in early spring and "twirls" to the ground.
Bark
The bark is deeply ridged and gray in color but it looks black when wet.

Florida Maple is good for large landscapes and when fall color is desired.
Interesting Facts
The sap can be tapped from the trees in early spring, then boiled down
until it is thick enough to be called syrup. It takes about 40 gallons of sap to make one
gallon of syrup. |
