Pigmy Pate Palm is a slow-growing palm that is not frost tolerant but it is good for small spaces and is readily available.

Leaves
Graceful, arching leaves reach 4 feet in length are armed with 2-3 inch, sharp needle-like spines at base of leaf stems. Be careful as the spines can penetrate skin and some clothing.

Flowers
White flowers come periodically throughout the year, but are not visible.

Fruit
Fruit is red to black dates, ½ to 1 inch in length.

Trunk
The trunk is often covered with old leaf bases.
