During its Feb. 17, 2011, meeting, the Volusia County Council voted unanimously to hire a qualified consultant to conduct an
independent analysis of countywide tourism and convention marketing efforts by Volusia County’s advertising authorities and the
Ocean Center.
This website will serve as a source of updated information as the consultant is selected, the study’s parameters are established,
information is gathered, public meetings are scheduled, the draft and final reports are issued, and short- and long-term plans to
implement the report’s findings are developed.

The Volusia County Council will host an informal reception and presentation of the preliminary report of the tourism marketing
study January 28, 2013 at the Ocean Center, Daytona Beach.
Study status – December 2012
The consultant, Dan Fenton, Strategic Advisory Group, has conducted several site visits to Volusia County. He has stayed in many hotels throughout Volusia County. He has had interviews with more than 200 Volusia residents and has conducted extensive research. He has toured the entire county extensively and now has considerable insight on Volusia’s tourism offerings and potential as well as the delivery of tourism promotion efforts countywide.
Mr. Fenton is working on a preliminary report which will be presented to the Volusia County Council in a public meeting January 28, 2013, in rooms A, B and C of the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. A reception will begin at 5 p.m. followed by Mr. Fenton’s presentation at 6 p.m. Copies of the preliminary report will be available for the public at the meeting, but not in advance.

The three finalists were CH Johnson Consulting Inc., Crossroads Consulting Service and Strategic Advisory Group.
On Sept. 8, 2011, the County Council heard presentations from the three firms to perform the study on the marketing efforts of the
three county-funded advertising authorities and the Ocean Center.
At the Nov. 10 County Council meeting, the County Council approved the contract with Strategic Advisory Group, the firm chosen to do the marketing study. The contract is available for review here.
