History
and Composition
The Volusia County Council created the CFAB in January 2000. It is
comprised of 9 citizen members who are appointed for two-year terms
by the County Council. This board was designated as the Children's
Service Council (CSC)
Purpose
The CFAB's purpose is to assess and evaluate needs;
develop strategies to meet needs; establish program's outcomes;
monitor program compliance; advertise funding availability; receive
applications and make funding recommendations.
Grant process
Each grant applicant must
address one of the funding categories priority conditions. An
annual competitive grant process is conducted to
determine the programs which will be recommended for
funding. Recommendations for funding are presented to
the County Council for approval. Once approved, the
programs enter into a contractual agreement with
Volusia County for a specific grant award and a
specific service delivery.
CFAB
funded programs
The CFAB provides funding for a variety of programs
throughout Volusia County. Program types include, but are not
limited to counseling, crisis intervention, elderly care, housing,
special needs, child development, crime, pregnancy and afterschool
programs. In fiscal year 2000, CFAB funded 46 agencies.
