SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS
ANN MCFALL OFFERS SPANISH SUPPLEMENTS TO ASSIST VOTERS THIS FALL
Although there will not be a Spanish language ballot
available at the polls and early voting sites this fall,
Supervisor Ann McFall will be working toward that goal by
providing many of the forms and literature used to assist voters
in both English and Spanish.
"I had really wanted to have a Spanish ballot available for
the voters, but unfortunately requirements that must be met for
this fall’s elections superseded the plan for a Hispanic
ballot." stated McFall.
"The programming of the audio ballot for the TSX Tabulator,
for instance, has taken a great deal of time and has forced us
to focus on what must be accomplished, verses what we
would want to accomplish." explained McFall.
But voters will see a significant difference in regards to
literature and instructions that will be available. The
multi-purpose affirmation, a form used to make voter information
changes, will be available in English and Spanish, along with
the Declaration to Secure and Provide Assistance form, the
provisional ballot envelope, the demonstration ballot form
attached to all privacy booths, the list of acceptable forms of
ID, and a host of other forms used to provide assistance and
instructions to voters.
Other materials already provided in English and Spanish to
voters is the recently published Voters Guide and the Election
Preparedness Guide. Supervisor McFall hopes to have a bilingual
ballot in place by 2008.
