In person
You may vote an absentee ballot in person by visiting the Department of Elections at the Historic Courthouse, 125 W. New York Avenue, Deland. Absentee ballots are typically available 3 weeks prior to an election. You must  bring  signed picture identification with you.  It is a good idea to call before coming to our office to make sure that ballots are available.

You may also come to our office and request an absentee ballot to take home with you to complete at your convenience. When done, you can mail it back or return to our office in the sealed envelope we gave you for this purpose. If mailing, please note the completed ballot must reach the Department of Elections by 7 p.m. Election Day in order to be counted.

Designee pickup
Four days prior to Election Day, or on Election Day itself, a voter may designate another person to pickup a ballot for him/her from the Department of Elections or from an early voting site when in operation. This designation must be in writing and must be signed by the voter.  The designee must be mentioned by name and if he/she is a member of the voter's immediate family, the relationship to the voter must be stated. The voter may use a plain piece of paper for this purpose or he/she may use the on-line Absentee Ballot Designee form.

The designee must show a  photo and signature identification and complete an "Affidavit for a Designee to Obtain an Absentee Ballot" form (which will be provided for them at the Department) before he/she may pick up a ballot. No one may pick up more than 2 ballots for other voters, except for members of their immediate family as stated in Florida Statute 101.62-(4)(b)4.
