Ocean Center has 1,890 parking spaces to accommodated Biketoberfest patrons
New parking lots mean more spaces than ever before

There are 1,890 reasons to have a great parking spot in the heart of the action for Biketoberfest Oct. 16-19.

In the final stages of a $76 million expansion, the Ocean Center has more available parking spots than ever for special events – 1,890 spaces. The parking areas available for this week’s Biketoberfest around the Ocean Center include and a six-story parking garage on N. Atlantic Avenue, a surface parking lot south of the facility adjacent to the action on Main Street, and a lot across from the facility on Auditorium Boulevard.

“We have more parking than ever around the Ocean Center, and the lots are open for business,” said Acting Ocean Center Director George Recktenwald. “We have plenty of parking; we can fit nearly 900 bikes in the surface lots alone. We welcome everyone to come over and use them during this weekend’s events.”

Recktenwald added that cars will be directed to the Ocean Center parking garage first, while bikes will be encouraged fill the surface lots around the facility. Typically, three motorcycles can fit in each parking space, according to Ocean Center Garage Manager Jamie Fish.
Pre-paid parking costs $10 for cars or trailers, and $5 for motorcycles. Cars and bikes will be permitted to park in the parking garage (not bike trailers). The south lot is for bikes only. The west parking lot can accommodate cars, trailers and bikes.

The Ocean Center parking garage is two blocks north of the Ocean Center on N. Atlantic Avenue, between Earl Street and Oleander Avenue. The garage is a 552,000-square-foot concrete structure that can accommodate 1,393 vehicles. Parking in the parking garage includes 31 handicap spaces, which are available on five floors and are near the elevators on the northeast and southwest corners of the garage. The Ocean Center parking garage is well lighted and is patrolled 24-hours-a-day by in-house patrol staff. A uniformed Daytona Beach Police Department is stationed in the garage nightly. A pedestrian bridge links the garage’s second floor to the Ocean Walk Shoppes.

The south lot at the Ocean Center, between Auditorium Boulevard and Main Street and south of the Peabody Auditorium, has 329 spaces, including eight handicapped spaces. The lot will be staffed during Biketoberfest and is patrolled throughout the day. Although the area of Auditorium Boulevard on the northside of the south parking lot – the E-Zone – remains under construction, the work will accommodate traffic expected during Biketoberfest and the lot will be fully accessible, according to Recktenwald.

The Ocean Center’s west lot is behind the Ocean Center and situated between Earl Street and Auditorium Boulevard (accessed from Hollywood Avenue). The surface lot has 168 spots, including eight handicapped spaces. Cost is $10 per day and is ideal for parking cars and trailers close to Main Street.
