Brighter Outlook, Caution Advised in Volusia County
All Volusia County evacuation shelters
are either closed or on stand-by, there are no mandatory or voluntary evacuation orders in
effect in the County, rain has been gracious in the past two days but, the wildfires
danger has not passed for the County. Firefighting crews continued mop-up operations and
are patrolling all other areas of the County, responding to fire threats as warranted.
There were a few lightning-strike fires generated, but all were quickly controlled.
Volusia Countys Emergency Operations Center remains fully
staffed, but is reducing its hours to 8:00AM 5:00PM, starting tomorrow, Wednesday,
July 8.
In other fire-related news:
Hunters Ridge residents are no longer under a boil-water alert.
There have been approximately 400 fire-related incidents reported by area hospitals, with
about 30 admissions.
The State of Florida Attorney Generals Office activated a hotline for citizens to
report price-gouging: 1-800-329-6969.
