PLANTATION PINES EVACUATION CANCELED

Volusia County Emergency Management canceled the mandatory evacuation of the Plantation Pines subdivision near Ormond Beach at 6:55 p.m. and issued a conditional return policy. Residents were advised to stay on alert status for future evacuations. Residents are also told to stay out of burned areas due to fire retardant.

A 60-foot wide fire break is almost complete.

In other news:

S.R. 44 will be closed for several hours while power poles are being repaired.

An additional site has opened in West Volusia to receive donations. Residents can deliver donations to the Volusia County School Board warehouse, 1301 Shapiro Ave. (in the Airport Industrial Park take S.R. 92 to Lexington Ave to Shapiro) between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. They will be closed July 3. On Saturdays and Sundays, donations can be delivered between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to the DeLand Jaycees clubhouse at 1087 Old Daytona Road (corner of Detrick and old Daytona Road).

Residents of Deltona who wish to contact their fire department should phone 860-7177, not the Emergency Management Center.
