State of Emergency Extended in Volusia

The local state of emergency declaration was to have expired today, but has been extended for another seven days in Volusia County. All fires in Volusia County are contained.
As of 3 p.m., all emergency shelters in Volusia County have been placed on standby status. Shelters can be opened quickly if needed. The shelter housing people and their pets at the Volusia County Fairgrounds will also close. Pet owners should arrange to pick up their pets at that shelter.
Due to a lower calling volume, operating hours for the Citizen Information Center will be reduced. Operators will be on hand to answer calls from 6 a.m. to midnight. To reach the Citizen Information Center call:

Daytona Beach 254-4658 ext. 1409 or 1405
West Volusia 736-5902 ext. 1409 or 1405
New Smyrna Beach 423-3358 ext. 1409 or 1405

All donations of food and beverages have been suspended because supplies are overstocked after an outpouring of support from citizens.
Operators will be available at the Emergency Operations Center to answer citizen inquiries about donations from 8 a.m to 10 p.m. at extension 1468.
