JUVENILES
CHARGED IN DELTONA FIRE
The Florida Fire Marshal's Office Tuesday arrested
two Deltona juveniles for setting a fire that had the
potential of quickly getting out of control.
"This could have gotten out of control
quickly," said Lt. John Corbett of the State
Fire Marshal's Office. "We're taking a zero
tolerance approach."
The two juveniles, who were charged with the the
third degree felony of willful, malicious or
intentional burning of lands, were arrested at their
home and immediately released to the custody of their
parents, Corbett said.
The youths, ages 8 and 9, were charged in connection
with a fire which occurred in a wooded area behind
782 Humphrey Ave., Deltona, at about 3:30 Tuesday
afternoon, Corbett said. The fire quickly was
contained by the Deltona Fire Department.
The Deltona Fire Department and State Department of
Agriculture also were involved in the investigation
and arrest.
