Administration
The
Volusia County Fire Services (VCFS) Administration Office has, as its
staff, the Director of Fire Services (who also serves as the Fire Chief)
and the Office Manager. The office is located in the Historic Courthouse in DeLand. Strategic leadership and management
support is provided to all personnel and all elements of VCFS. The
Director is responsible for providing the vision, goals and objectives for
the organization and ensuring coordination and integration of all
activities within VCFS.
A primary responsibility for Administration
is to ensure that an appropriate and effective level and scope of services
are provided based upon a valid assessment of risks within the community
and available funding. These services include not only emergency services
but also non-emergency services such as a number of community risk
reduction programs. This office is responsible for submitting a requested
budget annually and for ensuring the effective management of the approved budget.
Communications with members of the
organization and with the public is an essential role of Administration.
Speaking to community groups, publishing a newsletter and this web-site are some examples of how this is
accomplished.
