Volusia County Fire Services Selected to Receive DOT Highway Safety Grant
Volusia County Fire Services has been chosen to receive Florida Department of Transportation Highway Safety Grant funded items for the Volusia/Flagler Child Car Safety Seat Program, a partnership of numerous agencies in Volusia and Flagler Counties, including Volusia County Fire Services. The grant-funded items will be distributed through the Florida Child Safety Seat Distribution Program and will include child safety seats, fitting station supplies, educational materials and a fitting station trailer.
Volusia County Fire Services operates its staffed stations twenty-four hours a day as Child Passenger Safety Seat Fitting Stations and its career firefighters are certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians. The program has educated over 2,000 caregivers in child safety education, checked over 1,500 child safety seats and distributed 900 child safety seats since its inception in 2000.
