Two Injured as they Jump from the St. Johns River Bridge

Volusia County Firefighters responded to a report of two people that jumped from the St. Johns River Bridge in the early morning hours of September 14, 2006. When firefighters arrived on scene, they found two individuals that had jumped from the westbound side overpass of Interstate 4, landing on the ground approximately 40 feet below the bridge. VCFS, VCSO, Seminole County Fire/Rescue, Sanford Fire and Rescue and Volusia County's and Seminole County's Technical Rescue Teams responded to the incident. Firefighters worked for more than an hour and a half to perform high-angle rescue of the two patients who appeared to be in critical condition. Units on scene included, Engines 31 and 33, Squad 46, Service 45, Battalion 30 and DeLand Utility 81.
