Engine 35 arrived onscene to find heavy
smoke showing from the roof of this structure. Engine 35's crew began an
aggressive interior attack, which brought the fire quickly under control.
The fire was confined to the area of origin and was caused by a spark from
a torch being used to connect plumbing fixtures. The home, valued at
$800,000, sustained approximately $30,000 of damage. Volusia County Fire
Services Engine 35, Engine 32, Squad 46, Tanker 42, Battalion 40, Division
12, PIO 12 and Engine 82 from the city of DeLand responded to this
incident.
