Interstate MVA
In this accident, the maroon Mustang caught
fire after colliding with the teal Toyota. That fire was extinguished by a
Road Ranger with a portable extinguisher prior to the arrival of Volusia
County Fire Services.

The Road Ranger, with assistance from
citizens, removed the occupant of the Mustang while an off duty Volusia
County Fire Services firefighter stopped and assisted with extrication and
patient care for the occupant of the Toyota. That patient was airlifted to
Halifax Hospital as a trauma alert. The Toyota's fire was extinguished by
fire crews while they were stabilizing the vehicle for extrication of the
patient.

Interstate 4 eastbound lanes were closed
for about one hour after the accident. Squad 35, Engine 42, Battalion 40
and Division 10 responded to the scene.
