Lake Sophie Kay Fire
On the morning of June 4, 2006, Volusia County Fire Services was dispatched to a fully involved structure
fire on Lake Sophie Kay Place in DeLeon Springs. When the first units arrived, the structure was 40 percent involved in heavy flames. Crews fought a difficult interior attack while the flames spread through the attic. Because the fire was in the attic, some of the contents in the home were spared. Twelve Volusia County Fire Services units, three DeLand Fire/Rescue units and one Flagler County unit responded to the scene.
