Technical Rescue Team
The
Volusia County Technical Rescue Team is comprised of personnel from Fire
Services, Corrections and the Volusia County Beach Patrol working together
to respond to any incident within Volusia County that is beyond the
capabilities of the responding engine companies.
Members
of the team have received training in Rope Rescue, Swiftwater Rescue,
Confined Space, Structural Collapse and Wilderness Search and Rescue.
Two team members have become Swiftwater Rescue Instructors in order
to continue training team members.
In
addition to Volusia County Technical Rescue Team members being trained in
Wilderness Search and Rescue, Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, Civil Air
Patrol, and Volusia County Mounted Search and Rescue personnel are trained
in the course. With these
resources, trained personnel in air and ground searches are available when
needed in the community.
Team
members can respond as a Type IV Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) asset at
all times within Volusia County. The
Florida Power and Light DeBary plant generously donated equipment allowing
the team to achieve Type IV USAR status.
Team
members stand ready and trained to respond to Rope, Water, Confined Space,
Structural Collapse or lost person search incidents within Volusia County.
