Mission statement
The Volusia County Wildland Fire Coordinating Group
(VCWFCG) is made up of representatives of County agencies, state and federal landowners,
private landowners, the Volusia County Fire Chiefs Association, two At-Large
representatives with interest in this county and a coordinator.
The purpose of the Volusia County Wildland Fire
Coordinating Group (VCWFCG) is to serve as an advisory committee to coordinate programs of
the participating stakeholders, so as to avoid wasteful duplication and to provide a means
of constructively working together.
The goal of this partnership is to provide a more efficient
execution of each stakeholders fire program. The group provides a formalized system to
agree upon standards of training, equipment, suppression priorities and tactics,
wildland/urban interface fire protection (including fuels management) and private
landowners concerns. Agreed upon standards, and procedures are implemented directly
through regular partnerships of stakeholders.
