Functions
The VCWFCG operates through "Working Teams". The
working team concept provides a means for exchange of knowledge about all dimensions of
the fire program.
Currently there are six working teams. The teams are small
(6 8 persons), interdisciplinary in nature, and balanced. Teams may be established,
retained or abolished as needed.
The current teams are:
- Equipment
- Suppression priorities and tactics
- Training
- Wildland/Urban Interface fire protection (including fuels
management)
- Private landowners (address concerns)
- Public Education
A member of the VCWFCG serves as a representative on each
working team and carries recommendations back to the Coordinating Group. Ad-hoc committees
of specialists can be formed to complete specific tasks.
A coordinator serves on the group to maintain status of the
members, track VCWFCG issues, prepare meeting agendas, provide advance study materials,
and oversee preparation and distribution of minutes.
Individuals or agencies can retrieve information,
recommendations, or raise issues through representatives on the Coordinating Group and/or
working teams, the group or working team chairpersons, or the coordinator.
