This position is located in the Personnel Division and will be responsible for coordinating and administering County Personnel Policies and Procedures, labor agreements and negotiating labor agreements. May oversee the day- to- day operations of the Personnel Division in the absence of the Director.
Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Science or related field, and five (5) years progressively responsible experience with negotiating and administering multiple labor agreements in the public sector, as well as, have a thorough knowledge and experience working with upper management on employment issues, such as employee grievances, employment law, FMLA and ADA matters. Must also have a thorough knowledge of Federal and State laws affecting public sector human resources administration and labor relations. Minimum qualifications:
Graduation from high school or possession of a GED.  Prior to hire:  Must be 19 years of age. Must have passed a 7-8 level-A TABE test with scores at or above the 10th grade in all areas tested.  Exceptions can be made for those applicants who can show they have completed college level courses equivalent to this testing level.   Applicants must have a valid Florida Driver's License at time of appointment. Corrections will fund initial training and provide salary to the Corrections Officer Trainee.
NOTE: The TABE and CJ-BAT tests must be taken and passed prior to hire. Individuals are responsible for the fees and for scheduling tests directly with Daytona Beach Community College (386-506-3067). Individuals should forward their test results to the County of Volusia, Personnel Division.
