LPGA Brushfire update #2

The voluntary evacuation order for residents in the Bayberry subdivision has been lifted; however, the mandatory evacuation for the LPGA subdivision is still in effect throughout the night. The status of the evacuation order for the LPGA subdivision will be evaluated after 9 a.m. on Monday morning.

The 500 to 600-acre brushfire in the northwest portion of Daytona Beach has been confined and Division of Forestry officials estimate that the fire is approximately 20% contained. Fire crews will continue to work throughout the night to improve fire lines.

No structures have been damaged or destroyed.

The City of Daytona Beach has established a hotline for citizens to check on the status of evacuations. The number is 386-671-5347 and will remain open throughout the night.

Both northbound and southbound lanes of LPGA Boulevard, from Williamson Blvd. to International Speedway Blvd., continue to be closed.

The American Red Cross shelter at the Hampton Inn, 1715 West International Speedway Blvd., in Daytona Beach remains open. About a dozen residents have checked into the shelter.
