According to Division of Forestry officials, the bushfire remains at
approximately 800 acres and is currently within containment lines.
At this time, about 200 persons are assisting with firefighting efforts. In
addition to Daytona Beach crews, other agencies include Division of
Forestry, Volusia County Fire Services and Public Works, Alachua County,
Marion County, Seminole County, Lake County, Orange County, and the cities
of Leesburg, Winter Park and Ocala.
The American Red Cross shelter at Hampton Inn, 1715 West International
Speedway Blvd., remains open. American Red Cross officials have also made
provisions for owners with small pets. Owners are responsible for care of
their pets.
The mandatory evacuation order remains in effect for the LPGA subdivision.
LPGA Blvd., from Williamson Blvd. to International Speedway Blvd., is still
closed. The Daytona Beach police department is allowing persons with special
needs to gain limited access into the LPGA subdivision. To gain access,
residents must show positive identification at the LPGA Blvd./Tomoka Farms
Road intersection. Access will not be given at the International Speedway
Blvd./LPGA Blvd.
intersection. Residents are urged to retrieve their items and leave quickly.
