Welcome,
Volusia Prepares Business (VPB) was
established in June of 2005 to connect the private sector with the
government in Volusia County. The need became apparent following the
very active 2004 Hurricane Season. On the right side of our Home Page
you will see a list of the many community organizations that support VPB
and were the original founders.
Any business can participate in VPB. Profit and non-profit, big and
small, all are welcome. There is no cost and a great deal to be gained.
First VPB creates a method of communicating valuable information to
employers and through them to their employees regarding natural
disasters, Homeland Security issues and health emergencies such as
pandemic outbreaks. VPB can provide accurate information and help avoid
misinformation and even panic.
Second, we can provide an entire range of training to the private
sector. Anything from simple awareness presentations to specialized
hazardous material and emergency response training is available through
VPB.
Third, VPB provides a data base of critically needed resources so
both government and private organizations can locate what they need
during a disaster. This "clearing house" can also serve as a conduit of
immediate information between government and the privat e sector. The
clearing house can identify companies that need immediate help to stay
in operation. By helping them continue to operate we keep our residents
employed and Volusia County’s economy vibrant.
Enjoy the website and let us know what we can do to improve it.
