Is household "hazardous waste" stacking up on you? Volusia County Solid Waste and Recycling will give you a break.

If you have chemicals and other items in the home or garage that could contaminate groundwater and the environment if disposed of improperly, bring them in for safe, free recycling or disposal during Amnesty Days.

Items Accepted

  • You can bring solvents, auto and household rechargeable batteries, pool chemicals, pesticides, motor oil, used oil-based paint, gasoline, fluorescent lamps (limit 10), and cleaning solutions (click here for more information).
  • Do not mix chemicals.
  • Keep materials in their original containers.
  • Label if possible.
  • Insulin users may drop off their needles in approved Sharps containers (containers will not be replaced or returned).

Businesses are not eligible for free disposal during Amnesty Days.

Tomoka Landfill in Daytona Beach and the West Volusia Transfer Station in DeLand accept household hazardous waste year-round, free. For more information, please call Volusia County Solid Waste at (386) 947-2952.
