MAN ROBS DELTONA GROCERY STORE PHARMACY

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the robbery of a Deltona grocery store pharmacy Wednesday afternoon. A man passed a note that demanded drugs across the pharmacy counter, and an employee complied. No weapons was seen or implied, and no one was hurt. Several deputies, a K-9 unit and a Sheriff’s Office helicopter responded to the scene, but the suspect was not found.

The robbery happened at approximately 2:44 p.m. at a Publix located at 2100 Saxon Blvd. The suspect walked up to the pharmacy counter and gave a note to an employee. The note demanded that the employee hand over some oxycodone and no one would get hurt. The employee gave the suspect a bottle with a few pills in it and the man then fled.

The robber was described as a Hispanic man, about 5’7” and about 150 pounds. He’s believed to be in his early 30s. He wore a camouflage cap, a dark-colored sweatshirt, black pants and sunglasses. Surveillance photos show that he has a goatee, but store employees said that it looked like it might have been drawn on with a marker. The suspect was seen leaving the area on a yellow bicycle.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at (386) 860-7030 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. Tipsters can also provide information by texting “TIP231 plus the message” to CRIMES. Anyone who provides information to Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
