SHERIFF’S
OFFICE SEARCHING FOR SUSPECT IN DRIVE-BY SHOOTING
T
he
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in
locating a teenage suspect accused of a drive-by shooting last week that
slightly injured a 15-year-old DeLeon Springs boy. The Sheriff’s
Office has obtained a warrant for their prime suspect, Enoc Carbajal,
and is hoping a reward of up to $1,000 will generate tips that will help
them capture the suspect. A bullet grazed the head of the 15-year-old
victim, resulting in minor injuries.
The
17-year-old Carbajal is facing a felony charge of shooting into an
occupied residence. The victim, Marco Rios, was in his living room at
229 Cortez Ave. on the morning of Nov. 10 when several shots were fired
at the house from a passing SUV. One round entered the living room and
grazed Rios near the left ear.
During
the investigation, Rios told deputies that he recognized the SUV as a
Chevrolet Tahoe that Carbajal drove, but he didn’t see who had fired
the shots. While Carbajal denied firing at the house, he did admit to
driving the Tahoe on the morning of the shooting. The Sheriff’s
Office’s lead investigator in the case, Terry Earnest, seized the
Tahoe and found several spent shell casings and live rounds matching the
bullets fired at the victim’s home. That was enough to convince
Circuit Court Judge James Clayton to issue a juvenile pickup order on
Friday for Carbajal’s arrest.
The
Sheriff’s Office has been searching for Carbajal since Friday, but has
been unable to locate him. Cabajal is a white man approximately 5’6”
with brown hair and brown eyes. He lives at 5283 Park Ave. in DeLeon
Springs and has ties to Crescent City, Seville, Pierson and DeLand.
Anyone with information about Carbajal’s whereabouts is asked to
contact investigator Earnest at (386) 943-7866 or Crime Stoppers of
Volusia & Flagler Counties, toll-free, at 1-888-277-TIPS. Callers to
Crime Stoppers will remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up
to $1,000.
