SHERIFF’S
OFFICE SEEKS HELP IN LOCATING ROBBERY SUSPECT
The
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in
locating a 23-year-old man wanted for his role in the robbery of a
DeBary resident. Considered armed and dangerous, Sheriff’s
investigators have obtained an arrest warrant charging Albert Thompson
III with one count of home invasion robbery. A co-defendant, 19-year-old
DeAngelo Williams, was picked up about a week after the Aug. 5 robbery.
Sheriff’s
investigators believe the defendants barged into a home on Pine Drive in
DeBary armed with a handgun and looking to collect a drug debt. Two
women inside the home were shoved to the side as the intruders focused
their attention on a 28-year-old man, claiming he owed them $200. As
Williams held a gun to the man’s head, both defendants kicked and
punched the victim and then went through his pockets and removed $200.
The victim sustained bruises and contusions on his head and face, while
one of the women in the home also sustained some bruises as well. A pet
Dachsund also was kicked during the attack.
Thompson,
whose last known address was 2220 Danforth Ave., Deltona, also goes by
Lamar Blake and is known by the street name Red. He’s wanted on a
warrant signed on Aug. 9 by Circuit Court Judge Ed Sanders calling for
Thompson to be held on $250,000 bond. Anyone who sees Thompson
shouldn’t attempt to apprehend him. Crime Stoppers of Northeast
Florida is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to
Thompson’s arrest. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is
asked to call Crime Stoppers toll-free at (888) 277-TIPS. All calls to
Crime Stoppers are anonymous.
