WANTED
MAN SOUGHT BY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
The Volusia County
Sheriff’s Office is asking for the
public’s help in locating a man wanted on three open warrants. A
reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to
the arrest of 28-year-old Christopher J. Watson. The Deltona man has a
lengthy criminal history, with his latest offense happening Friday when
he ran away from a traffic stop. The public is urged to be cautious if
Watson is seen; don’t approach him, but rather call 911 or report
information to Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida.
Watson is a
light-skinned black man about 6’1” tall and weighing approximately
190 pounds. His last known address was 2919 Keesler St., Deltona. The
three warrants issued for Watson are: fleeing or attempting to elude a
marked police car, possession of cocaine and driving while license
suspended.
During a routine
patrol on Friday afternoon, a deputy spotted Watson driving an SUV near
Orange City. The deputy had several encounters with Watson in the past
and knew that Watson was a habitual traffic violator and his license was
suspended. The deputy attempted a traffic stop, and once the vehicle was
stopped Watson jumped out and fled on foot. A small amount of powder
cocaine was found inside the SUV.
Anyone
with information about Watson’s whereabouts is asked to call the
Sheriff’s Office DeBary office at (386) 668-3830 or Crime Stoppers of
Northeast Florida, toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. Callers to Crime
Stoppers will remain anonymous.
