HOTEL
ROBBERY SUSPECT IDENTIFIED
A
fingerprint left on a note passed from a robber to his victim led to the
suspect’s identification and now the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office
is seeking the public’s help in finding him. Anthony Martinez faces a
robbery charge for the October incident at a Deltona hotel. The note
ordered the hotel clerk to hand over money and implied that Martinez had
a gun; however, Martinez never actually displayed a weapon.
At
approximately 1 a.m. October 4, Martinez entered the lobby of the Best
Western Hotel, 481 Deltona Blvd. He handed the robbery note to the
39-year-old clerk and then left with the money the clerk gave him.
Unfortunately for Martinez, he left the note behind and investigators
were able to obtain a fingerprint from it. Once investigators had a
possible identity, they compared his driver license photo to the
surveillance video from the morning of the robbery and felt they had a
good match. A background check on the 31-year-old revealed that he is on
probation for burglary.
Martinez
is a Hispanic man, 5’7” tall and weighs about 165 pounds. He has
black hair and brown eyes. His last known address is 3236 Lake Helen
Osteen Road, Deltona.
Anyone
with information about the Martinez’s whereabouts is asked to contact
investigator Ryan Mills at (386) 860-7030 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast
Florida toll-free at 1-888-277-TIPS. Callers to Crime Stoppers will
remain anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
