CAPTURES SUSPECTS IN CREDIT CARD THEFT
Less than an hour after a
report of a Deltona man’s car being burglarized, thieves were using
the victim’s stolen credit cards at a local store. Volusia County
Sheriff’s investigators are turning to the public for help in solving
the case, hoping someone will recognize the suspects captured on
surveillance video leaving Wal-Mart.

The victim, who lives on
West Seagate Drive, reported the break-in to his 2005 Ford pickup truck
at about 5:45 a.m. on Aug. 28. A laptop computer, jewelry and five
credit cards were taken in the burglary. Just before 6:30 a.m. on the
morning that the theft was reported, nearly $1,000 worth of goods were
purchased at the DeLand Wal-Mart with the the victim’s stolen credit
cards. Meanwhile, after searching for evidence and witnesses in the
Deltona neighborhood where the break-in occurred, deputies discovered
that two other vehicles were burglarized and a truck was stolen, all on
the same street. Investigators also are looking into the possibility
that three other car break-ins nearby may be connected as well.
Anyone who recognizes
either women who appear in the surveillance video leaving the Wal-Mart
store is asked to call Sheriff’s investigator Ryan Mills at (386)
860-7030. Persons wishing to remain anonymous can qualify for a reward
of up to $1,000 by calling Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida,
toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS.
