MAN
WANTED FOR STABBING IN BAR PARKING LOT
The
Volusia County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in
locating a man wanted for stabbing another man in a Deltona bar parking
lot Monday night. The 38-year-old victim was transported by EVAC
ambulance to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach. He is still in the
hospital being treated for a non-life threatening stab wound to his
torso. The suspect deputies are looking for, Felix Mercado, fled the
scene in what is believed to be his girlfriend’s car before deputies
arrived.
The victim, Ricardo
Feliciano, and witnesses told responding deputies that Feliciano left
the bar and walked to his car in the parking lot of Gwen’s West Indian
Bar & Restaurant, 1355 Doyle Road at approximately 11:48 p.m.
Mercado walked up to Feliciano and an argument ensued between them about
some money allegedly stolen from Mercado in the past. During the
altercation, the suspect had a knife in his hand, threatened to kill
Feliciano, and then stabbed the victim in the side. The suspect then
jumped into a red car, possibly a Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix, and
sped away. Medics later told deputies that the wound was about 3” deep
and 1” wide.
Mercado, 36, is a
Hispanic male who lives in Deltona, but previously lived in New York.
Investigators believe Mercado may attempt to return to New York. He is
5’9” tall and weighs about 135 pounds. He has black hair and brown
eyes.
