BURGLARS
MAKE OFF WITH STORE’S ATM MACHINE
Thieves
broke into a Chevron store in Deltona Monday morning, attached a chain
to the ATM machine and dragged it out of the business with a sport
utility vehicle. Responding Volusia County Sheriff’s deputies found
fresh drops of blood outside the store, leading them to believe that one
of the suspects cut himself during the break-in.

Deputies
were dispatched to the Chevron station at 900 Deltona Blvd. after a
passerby noticed the shattered front door and called 911 at 5:05 a.m.
Deputies believe the burglary occurred about 30 minutes prior to the
call. Surveillance video from the store shows two white men drive up to
the store in an older model, red Ford Explorer. Both of the men were
wearing t-shirts, one black and the other blue. The SUV backed into a
parking space in the front of the store and then one of the suspects
shattered the glass door. The suspect then entered the store, wrapped a
metal chain around the cash machine and then got back into the SUV
before it took off, yanking the machine out of the ground. The suspects
drove off on Deltona Boulevard in the direction of Normandy Boulevard.
Anyone
with information about the burglary is asked to call the Sheriff’s
Office at (386) 860-7030 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida,
toll-free, at (888) 277-TIPS. Callers to Crime Stoppers will remain
anonymous and can qualify for a reward of up to $1,000.
